Bonsai Gardening Secrets: Protecting Outdoor Bonsai
by Erik A. Olsen
In order to protect your valuable bonsai during severe and cold weather, you should choose a container that's several sizes larger than your bonsai pot and tree. make sure this larger container has ample drainage holes in the bottom and excellent drainage. Now add a layer of good layer of high-quality peat moss to the bottom of the large container, and then put the entire bonsai - pot and tree - inside the pot. Fill the bonsai pot with more peat moss, right up to the tree trunk. When spring comes, remove your bonsai, clean up pot and tree, and you're ready for another growing season!
